Hi Steve. I have been 'parked' until January 2011 by the Shaw Trust, but I have now been notified that I have to attend a Work Focussed Health Realated Interview, and possibly start again with the Job Centre advisor and go back to the Shaw Trust!! However, my question is this: I have been told that I will have to attend another Medical in May 2011. (my last one was in November 2009). Is this the full medical as in the November one? If I fail to go what happens then, do they stop benefits immediately or do they give you time to book another appointment etc? Many thanks for your great site; Lainie x

If people have been parked for a certain amount of time fair enough .. but why do these jobs worth people at job/medical centres at such like keep on wanting to interview you... And why do we have to put up with the treat of our hard won benefits being stopped all the time... makes my blood boil !!!

Hi Iainie,

If your case is due for review in 2011 then it may involve a full medical or it may involve just completing a form, there's no way of knowing in advance.

But failure to attend a medical without good cause will result in your claim being ended.

Good luck,

Steve

I didn't attend my 1st ESA medical as I had a broken knee at the time and couldn't weight bear/walk on right leg and couldn't get in a car due to full plaster - I did explain this to appointments people who insisted I either obtained a letter from my dr confirming this - which my dr charges £15 for and I couldn't afford or I attend!
They insisted on making an appointment for me so I just didn't turn up as I'd sent proof of my broken knee to DWP, in the form of my hospital discharge letter.

After I hadn't turned up I received a letter asking me to write to them as to why I hadn't attended, if I didn't my benefits would be stopped!

So I replied telling them why I hadn't attended - and heard absolutely nothing in reply, just got another letter a couple of months later, asking me to make another medical appointment!!!

So they gave me time in their own dear way and it didn't cost me £15!
