TV presenter Esther Rantzen is standing as an independent in Luton South - she's expressed concern over health and care services, so does anyone in her constituency know whether she might be interested in gaining these problems (as so excellently summarised in the members' news section item Even harsher new ESA medical approved) even just a bit of sympathetic media profile and public awareness?

How about rolling our wheel chairs down onto major roads and stopping the country moving. What could happen ? oh yes they will put us in a cosy sell with a nice couple of meals thrown in. I totally believe this is a witch hunt. They say its to help us back to work but in reality it is just causing worry and hardship and at the end of the day there is no help at all. If you do go to a job centre there is no jobs on the walls anymore because if they did put them on the wall, the wall would be empty, you now have to use a computer and this just shows jobs miles away so unless you will move home you have got no chance and that's if your fit. I have always voted labour and was so glad when Blair got in but after this I will never vote for them again.
Being disabled can happen to anyone at any time. You could be fine one day and the next be in a car crash and in a wheel chair for the rest of your life and now you will be persecuted as well.
Dreadful just dreadful and I believe a crime against humanity

I voted for Blair and New Labour in 1997, but with the benefit of hindsight that was a mistake never to be repeated, because three weeks after the election in 1997, Blair had tea with Thatcher and commented on much he admired her principles!

Blair turned out to be no more than a closet tory, often referred to a "son of Thatcher" who was just as bad if not worse than her, and that's saying something!

I will email my local newspaper and MP later. I want to ask a question first though. Is it ok to quote from the newsletter published on this site about the proposed medical test or not? Wanted to check first as I wasn't sure.

Thanks

Marie

Hi Marie,

Yes, that's absolutely fine.

Just sent two emails to my local newspaper, one to the political editor and to the health editor.

Also to my local MP. I really fear for the future of England when any government could draw up such a legislation and attack the sick and vunerable like a pack of rabid dogs!
