DLA care component was created by jimboblindos
My husband was originally on the old 'mobility allowance' because of his problems walking and then transferred to the dla mobility component when the benefit changed its name. He has since had a couple of heart attacks and now needs care as well. Can i apply for the care component now, or do i have to re-apply for everything again?
Please can anyone advise. :(

Hi,

You can ask for a supersession on the grounds of a change of circumstances. Make it clear that you only want the care component looked at. However, there is always a risk when you ask to have an award looked at again.

There's more information in our guide to changes of circu, stances in the DLA section of the members area.

Good luck,

Steve

Thanks Steve for your comments, how do I apply for a supersession?
The only form they gave me at the DHSS is part 1 care and part 2 help with getting around.

Hi,

That form will be used to carry out a supersession. A supersession is just the term for looking again at an existing award because there has been a change in the claimant's circumstances.

Good luck,

Steve
