DLA turned down

DLA turned down was created by Sassy
Quelle surprise!

Got my DLA decision today.

Turned down flat, no mobility component, no care component.

According to them, without even seeing me I can:
Walk up to 50 meters - WRONG
Wash, bathe, shower or dry myself - WRONG
Dress and undress - WRONG
Get up and down stairs - WRONG

I am:
Not at risk of falling - WRONG

I do not need help to:
Use a cooker - WRONG
Carry and lift safely - WRONG
Get in and out of a chair - WRONG

Amongst other things I'm frankly too angry to even type about at the moment.

I have a pathways to work meeting tomorrow at the job centre for my ESA claim so will get a GL24 form while I'm there.
I also have my medical for ESA on Sunday which is filling me with fear as it is, and now I have the additional stress of appealing this decision.

How on earth they can say how far I can walk (I put 10 meters on the form and that's stopping to rest) without even seeing me is just completely and utterly illogical.

I know ME/CFS is very hard to claim for, but a decision like this without even giving me a medical? It beggars belief.

I'll keep you posted, looks like I'm in for a long wait.

Hi Sassy

These people are such a disgrace. When I applied for my partner who also suffers Me/Cfs/FM we got exactly the same reply. We are waiting currently for a date for the Tribunal.
I dont know if this will help you but it worked for us. Get in contact with the Atos people and request a home visit for your medical on the grounds that your condition wont allow you to get to the medical and because Me/Cfs/FM is rather unpredictable that you cant guarantee that you will be able to make it. They sent out a doc. to us to do the medical.

All the best and good luck. :)

I was turned down for DLA like you. When I appealed they sent a doctor to see me at home (I didn't request the home visit, it seemed to be the norm for DLA). A couple of weeks after the medical they gave me DLA, without my having to go to a tribunal.

So don't despair. Read the guides on this site and go for it.

Do you have evidence backing up what you're saying?
