DLA is primarily awarded for whatever your care and/or mobility needs are. The cause of those needs is secondary.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

I have just completed my sister-in-law's DLA form for Bi-polar and following the guides to the letter she has been awarded lower rate mobility and highest rate care! This was a great difference from last year when she was awarded lower rate care only. Good luck - read the guides and put as much as you can on the forms - I added other sheets to get my point across. I made a lot of points on meeting people, confidence, manic phases and generally not taking part in society. Good Luck.

Thanks ever so much, I have bipolar and am having a really bad manic phase right now, Im having night terrors and sleepwalking my mind wont stop. I was getting middle rate care and low mobility but my father who has the same diagnosis is getting high care, just wondered why that was. But he did have someone at DIAL fill out his forms, I did the last myself maybe I didn't put on as much info as I should, I didnt know about this site/guides either.
Thanks again x

Two people with the same condition can (and often do) have different care needs. Not everyone will get the same rates.
