Carer Allowance? Quite long. was created by Margaret
Hello

When my review comes up I can't face another medical. I am hoping I will be able to apply for CA but I don't know anything about it.

Can anyone here tell me or is there a website which will tell me the following?

1. How do I go about applying?

2. Will I have to go for an interview for my application to be considered?

3. Will I have to sign on, go for interviews etc if I receive CA even if I don't receive any other benefit?

4. How is it decided whether I am considered a part time or full time carer? (I care for my mum who receives IB and LR DLA, appeal pending for DLA).

5. Will I even be allowed to apply if the DLA for my mum was awarded months or a few years before, is there a time limit?

6. If I were to receive CA, would it be reviewed, even if my mum's DLA is indefinite?

I realise I am asking for alot of info, any info is much appreciated.

Thank you

Check out this site:-

It should be noted that to be a carer the person you are caring for should be receiving either the Middle or Higher rate of the Care Component of DLA.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems
