Incontinence?

Incontinence? was created by johnboy123
Please could you tell me if I come into a category of incontinence? Two years ago with advise from my doctor I changed my HIV anti-retroviral regime for the fourth time (due to three clinical failures over fourteen years of treatment)
One of the side effects of this triple combination is digestive problems and diarrhoea.
I also have severe heart disease and after a massive heart attack two years ago amongst other drugs I was prescribed a double the usual dose of clopidogrel 150mg.
I carry a card stating that I must take this dose for life.
This medication also causes diarrhoea even at normal dose for 1/10 and it can affect me quite severely. Because of this problem I also take loperomide most days.
Because of the bloated and uncomfortable feeling I get with that treatment I don’t always take it and just try not to be too far from a toilet. My doctor wrote to my council to support me in an application for a disabled toilet radar key, as I have had a number of embarrassing accidents while out in my town. I have had to get home to bathe and change clothes at least once a fortnight due to diarrhoea.
I currently get HRC DLA and I.B, although the IB shows as I.S on my bank statements.
I’m worried about the IB migration and wonder if I will be entitled to any points for incontinence as it is caused by my medications. Changing HIV medication is not really a good idea as it is suppressing the virus well. As for the clopidigrel, that is for life. I’m terrified of being dumped on JSA as I have also been diagnosed with depression and social anxiety/avoidance disorder . Please can you advise? Thank you.

Hi,

I'm afraid we can't really advise on whether you personally will score points for incontinence under the work capability assessment.

All I can say is that it is possible to score points for urgency in the limited capability for work assessment and the fact that the urgency is caused by medication which you normally take would not prevent you scoring those points.

Good luck,

Steve
