Medicals for all claimants?

Hi,
I heard on the radio recently, that the new government are now planning to send everyone who is claiming Incapacity benefit for a medical, to try to get them all on to job seekers allowance! How ridiculous is that? I claim SDA along with my DLA so would this apply to me too? I have enough to worry about with my health problems, just like everyone else on here without having to worry about losing my benefit. Everyone here knows how hard it is to get the benefit in the first place, yet on the radio and TV it always comes across like it is so easy to claim and we are all simply too lazy to work, which also makes me so angry. I would love to be able to go to work or even be well enough to be able to go out whenever I wanted. I would be grateful for any feedback. Thanks, Amber

The short answer is that until someone in the DWP actually clarifies what is intended to happen we just don't know.

My suspicion is that this is a sound bite that has yet to be fleshed out with actual policy and may end up just meaning that they are going to carry on with the planned retesting of claimants set out by the last adminsitration.
