13 week rule for mortgage payment

13 week rule for mortgage payment was created by Debs
My question is:
Does the 13 week waiting period start from the day that ESA(IB) is awarded or can a period on ESA(C) count.
I am being told that I must wait another 13 weeks for support with mortgage payments and that ESA (C) claim counts for nothing.

Hi Debs,

You could check out the MNP traaining guide in the ESA part of the member's are for more on this.

In general though, it is income-realted ESA that would qualify you for mortgage interest rather than contribution based.

Sorry to step in Steve ,

Debs you need to get an advice agency to check your circumstances , as things like "Housing Costs " have many variables.
If you had eligible housing costs at the start of your ESA claim then dependant on circumstances (partners income , capital etc) then the count of 13 weeks (dependant on circumstances ) could start from day one of your ESA(Cont) claim .
Your unique circumstances would need to be checked out.
It does sound like you have been given at least an incomplete answer with regard to waiting a further 13 weeks.
See page 37 of the MNP guide as stated by Steve.
