I was allowed to buy a brand new car out of my compensation money and the benefits office couldn't take that in to consideration when clawing back the money, because it was an essential spend. So buy the best damn car you can afford After all you will be needing it for your mobility scooter (new of course) to fit in to the back of your BIG new car ALL legitimately I might add.

Also I would seriously consider updating all your kitchen appliances, buying a big stand up freezer and filling it with food, food IS after all essential isn't it? You can legitimately spend it you know, a therapuetic holiday maybe? Pay off all your credit card bills, that I know is legit too.

Can I just mention that if you're on means tested benefits there are rules about deprivation of capital (spending your money so as to be eligible for benefits) and that if you're considering spending money for that purpose, you may wish to get advice on what you can spend your money on.
