ESA Appeals and back dating of claims

Hi all,

Sorry if this seems a silly question but as I am still on Income Support I do not know much about ESA apart from the fact that the appeals are taking a long time. My question is if someone is assessed as being fit for the work group and then appeals and gets into the support group is the money higher in the support group and if so is your claim back dated to the time that you were assessed as being fit for the work group so you accumulate the diferential in money that you missed out on during the time it took to get your case to appeal?

Many thanks if someone can answer this.
:)

Hi Fiona

Claimants in the Support Group receive £5.45 a week more than the LCW Group.

If you successfully appeal to get into the Support Group, you will have the difference backdated to the date of the decision.

Thank you Derek for that info. It is some small comfort in these present times!
