IB to ESA advice please

Good luck with the form-filling. Whilst we can't advise on specific cases, we can help with general queries, so do let us know if there's something you're not clear on in the guides.

Hi
My adult daughter is being changed from Ib to ESA. I had a Welfare rights officer fill the form in but having join and read B&W advice I can see it hasn't been fill in to achieve the best result. I know the form is difficult to fill in especially with certain illness ie CFS.
My questions are should I cross out the form or request another one? Will it be looked at more favourably if it was filled in by the Welfare rights Officer rather then by me her mother? Or could I add to the information that has been provided so far on the form?
Some of the problem is that boxes have been tick that might mean they wouldn't read the info in the box, could I just cross out the tick and write 'see use this space?'
Jude,
If you need a new ESA50, you can download one from this link :
www.direct.gov.uk/prod_consum_dg/groups/...lasset/dg_195544.pdf
You can either then fill it in on your P.C. print it off and post it.
Or print it off and fill it in by hand.
cheers

Your situation resembles mine a few years ago when I had to appeal for the first time.
Not knowing anything about benefit law I visited an advice centre and was assigned an 'expert', who I trusted would know what she was doing. After she wrote a completely fictitious and self-contradictory appeal statement and submitted it without giving me a chance to read it, I quickly dis-instructed her and handled the appeal myself.
As Survivor said if there is anything the advisor wrote on the form that you think is useful you could include it but feel free to trust your instincts if you lack confidence in the advisor.
Good luck
Derek

If the illness is CFS if you haven't already done so look on the Action for ME website- they have a free guide to the ESA50 03/11 you can view/download. The ME Association has a similar guide which can be ordered from them. Also, have a look at the report on fluctuating conditions at
www.forward-me.org.uk/Reports/Fluctuatin...ons_report_FINAL.pdf
Good luck
