gordan: I had been receiving income sup/incapacity for many years before esa even existed for which I had to provide sick notes. It looks like this means I am receiving income support for sickness which I didn't realise existed. Also again what is everyone's opinion on whether applying for dla is worth the risk of failing a different medical or better just to sit tight for the time being. cheers for answers

Hi, I don't think that's relevant, but maybe a Mod can reiterate?

Best wishes,
Rachel

Applying for DLA -

You may get it. If you don't, the question is, will you have lost anything? The only way that applying for DLA could affect your ESA/IS is if there is an inconsistency between what the medicals for each find. This seems to be usually only a problem with how far people can walk, but it's not impossible for there to be other conclusions drawn at a DLA medical that could be relevant to ESA or IS.
