Hi all,

Does anyone know whether the ESA50 form is sent out to you to complete 'before' your Doctor fills out the ESA113 form? Or is it the other way round?

Many thanks

Nik :)

Hi Nik,

See this extract re ESA113 information, given to G.P.'s :

Most information requests regarding Incapacity Benefit (IB) and Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) claims will be on the ESA113.
We ask you to complete this form if we think that the patient may have a severe health condition or disability but do not have enough information to be sure.

From this document. :

www.dwp.gov.uk/docs/medical-reports-completion.pdf

It looks like it may vary, however ESA113's are not sent to G.P.'s as a matter of course.

i believe its only after they receive your completed esa50 and they dont always ask for an esa113 it seems.

I believe that unlike with IB113s, there is no standard procedure for sending out ESA113s - it's at the discretion of Atos/DWP.

They are usually sent to the GP for a first claim before an ESA50 is issued. An ESA113 may be sent to a GP after an ESA50 is received if more information is required.
