DWP letter warning about welfare reform bill was created by Melanie Tudor
I received a DWP letter dated 3rd October, warning me that although I was on ESA now, if the welfare reform bill becomes law, if I have received benefits for longer than 12 months, it will be stopped.
I have been on ESA for over 12 months, but my most recent ESA questionnaire had a deadline of 28th September and was received before that date.
What I want to know is, is this a standard letter? I am waiting to find out if I have a medical. My psychiatrist did send them a covering letter to say that attending a medical would be 'detrimental to my health' - the fact that the deadline was 28th Sept and the DWP letter was dated 3rd October and says 'You are entitled to support now' in the last paragraph, does this mean that my ESA claim wss successful and I do not need to attend a medical, or is it just a standard letter to everything on ESA no matter what stage of the process they are on.

Hi Mel, unfortunately that is just a standard letter being sent out to people receiving CB ESA.
Letters re medicals are taking quite a long time at the moment, they received my ESA50 nearly 4 weeks ago and I haven't heard back yet.
Best wishes,
Rachel

Hi Mel
It is a standard letter sent to all claimants in the WRAG on contribution based ESA. If your ESA transfer is successful I would expect that you will be notified in writing separately.
See the link below regarding the letter.

Same here on both counts... What I can't get me head around what do they expect us vulnerable people to live on if ESA is stopped...Hi Mel, unfortunately that is just a standard letter being sent out to people receiving CB ESA.

yup got my letter today too. I sent an email to my MP telling him if they make this act law just how it will affect me
and pointing out how long appeals are taking so even winning my appeal and being put in the support group could be too late to stop me losing my little house. we barely scrape by as it is... no savings [oh I wish] just debts to juggle.
I'm in despair at the way this government is treating the sick and disabled. doubt it will do any good but if everyone told their MP the effect it will have on them personally maybe they'll start to see us as people instead of numbers

Hi Linda, I haven't contacted my MP because I thought the bill had already been passed in the House of Commons. I thought the House of Lords was our last chance, and I don't know who to contact there. If I am wrong, and it would still be a good idea to write to my MP then I will do so immediately. Perhaps somebody could advise. I will write/email whoever I need to.
