Income Related ESA is subject to a means test of assets (max. £16,000), income (deducted £1/£1 from ESA payment) and if relevant, hours worked by a partner (less than 24/w).So blimmin confusing...as I understand it if your stopped CB ESA you would be transferred over to IB ESA... ?
Asa result, many now receiving ESA(CB) in the WRAG will not be eligible for ESA(IR) at the end of the 12 months.
If you are currently receiving an IS top up with your IB, or ESA(IR) with your ESA(CB), then you have already satisfied the means test.

All IB claimants will be moved to Contribution Based ESA. If you are in the WRAG for a year then you will be moved to Income Related ESA, subject to the means test, which it sounds like you would pass. Thanks Gordon... Many thanks for your reply Gordon.... I think I've been getting IB's mixed up with IR's.. I thought IB was short for Income Based ESA but it's short for Incapacity Benefit and as you say IR is for Income Related ESA.. there's so many different abbreviations the ol mind does boggle some what...!!..Tommo wrote:
