Yes, but what I want to know is, does EVERYONE who tranfers from IB to ESA get a P45? I didn't get one. Do you think I should worry about this? Thank you.
Hi,
If claimants are receiving a taxable benefit (such as Incapacity Benefit - unless it was awarded a number of years ago when it was tax free) when one signs off claiming or changes to another benefit, a P45 should be raised.
However, it is only really of use if you have relatively complex tax affairs, or claim a company pension etc.
In anycase you should receive a P60 at the end of the tax year showing what (if any) tax has been paid.
For most people a P45 will end up sitting in a file for years until it is shredded or thrown away.
To be honest, if you only claim IB or ESA now (as taxable benefits) it really is of no consequence receiving one anyway.

hi harleyHi helchis,
I've just been on the phone about my transfer from IB to ESA, re: missing payment, I have now had things explained to me whether it' right or wrong who knows. I was on CB IB and have now been transfered to CB ESA in the support group on 4th October, I have received my P45 because my IB claim has been closed, and have been told just to keep it, if and when my CB ESA finishes I will receive another P45 when that ends. My payment will go in this Monday, but it is 2 weeks late, for which they have apologised. hope that helps.
did they pay you double then if it was two weeks late otherwise you would have missed a payment i presume you get paid every two weeks
