Today I had the pleasure (NOT) of speaking over the phone to DWP. I received a letter this morning saying that I needed to sent in a certificate because the last one run out on the 17th, So, I called them to tell them that I had sent it on the 19th signed for (I have copies of cert and signature of person receiving), they could not give me an answer as to why they did not have the Medical Certificate, so the lady told me they would get back to me after 2 hours, which they did. The lady that called me told me that they did not have the certificate and that I would have to provide another !! I argued that it was not my responsibility to provide another because I had sent it and that i had prove that they had received it, to that she said that yes there was prove that an envelope had been received but they could not prove that the certificate was there because it was not on their records !!! Anyways to cut a long story short I now have to go to my Doctor and have the copy of my medical certicate faxed by them because they will not accept a copy via mail or via another fax !!! a copy can only be accepted if faxed by the doctor.
Hi,
Sorry it seems you are being messed about by the DWP. As with any large organisation, paperwork does at times go astray. It's not often it happens in proportion to the volume of paperwork received, but it does happen.
I know where I used to work, people used to deliberately send in empty envelopes by recorded delivery, and then claim cheques etc had been sent and they had proof of posting it and it's delivery, so perhaps the DWP suffer a similar problem with medical certificates.
Sadly it is the ones who have legitimately sent in a note who suffer the consequences of it though when something goes wrong.
Pete

I do understand what you mean and to be honest near the end of the conversation with the lady in DWP she did agree that the system was in shambles and many documents were being lost but that unfortunately, I would have to provide another cert or a copy of it via my docs fax... She did also say that sending signed for letters did not make any diffrence because all the mail goes to a main sorting office and they sined for the mail but there was no guarrantte that it would reach the right place !

There was a time a few years ago when you could hand them into your JCP office and get a receipt or an authenticated copy of the original, but this is no longer allowed.
Don't the DWP love to make life harder, both, for claimants and their own staff?
