side effects of medication was created by paula
Hi i am on lithium citrate, and two of the main problems i have with the medication are sickness (on anti sickness medication) to try and control it, and have been under an incontinence clinic and today they mentioned getting a radar key due to uncontrollerable bowel movements, getting prescribed immoudum by the gp and taking pads everywhere i go. I cannot increase the meds because it is made even worse, and i am not theraputic on the dose i am on and cannot come off the meds as illness gets worse. As told by my cmht and the clinic today i am between a rock and a hard place. I cannot take lithium carbonate, and have tried every mood stabliser with no success. Wondered if anyone had a similar problem to this, and know where i can get a radar key. Does anyone else have one of these? Just like to know if anyone out there expereinces problems with this medication, and if gone through the esa assessment did you mention it? It really is an issue for me, and it is affecting my quality of life

hi paula
sorry pet this isnt really gonna help you much but i was on lithium at 1 point about 5yrs ago, im sorry i cant remember what type. this was to control my bipolar. i cant even remember why they took me off of it cause everything is a bit of a blur around that time when i was diagnosed. i remember getting blood tests to check my levels. i also have been on many, many, mood stabalisers & am currently on quitiapine which makes me so tired & dizzy that my gp wont give me a definate me/cfs diagnosis due to the overlaping symptoms. i also have ibs & diverticulitis & occasionaly suffer incontenance, but not as often as you describe.
im sorry i cant offer any answers to your questions but i do sympathise with you. i hope you get the answers your looking for.
take care pet (hugs)

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi guys
I know from my own dear wife's disabilties that your medication can be an important factor in what you are and are not able to do, and are therefore relevant to someone completing their DLA or ESA forms.
However, it really is not appropriate for members to exchange medical information within the forums.
Future posts in this vein may be deleted and the thread locked.

Hi Paula, I have a similar problem with bowel and bladder, I have two radar keys, one in the car and one in my bag. They are available from radar (google to find telephone number) although I got mine from the local shopping center which runs a shop mobility scheme for a very small fee i think about £5.
Stupidly I didn't mention it on previous assessment because i was too embarrassed and felt it was a very private issue however it is now documented on my dla renewal and will be on my esa renewal as I am now under a gastroenterologist and cant ignore the problem as it impacts on so much. I cant help with your meds as my disability is physical and I have no experience of your medication. I would however mention the bowel issues where they ask on the forms. And apply for your radar key
best wishes
