Hi Jayney B
If you lodged an appeal using the GL24 form you should continue to receive ESA payments at assessment rate until the appeal is decided. It's not necessary to claim JSA but you do need to continue to send in sick notes to continue payments.
Good luck
Derek

Form GL24 is the official appeal form, but the DWP can accept a letter in lieu of form GL24.
It is advisable to mark the letter 'Appeal' preferably in red at the top, so the DWP will be in no doubt that it is the notice of appeal.

I would contact Jobcentreplus to confirm that they are treating it as an appeal and not a reconsideration.
If they are treating it as a reconsideration you can send a GL24 form if you are still within the one month time-limit and state on the form that you wish to be paid ESA at the assessment rate, although this should happen automatically upon receipt of the form.

Sorry, I mistook your post as I wrongly assumed that you had not yet sent the appeal letter when in fact you had already done so, in which case you should proceed as directed by Derek in the previous post.
