Medical assessment was created by Ex Pat
Hi Everyone, site is so helpful, I am IB to ESA, I have arthritis of the Facet joints lower spine and live in Spain, had the dreaded brown envelope in August but not without complications, anyway duly filled in with aid of your valuable guides and returned September, received notification in October that I was to attend for a medical assessment and provide my own interpreter at my expense, OK not to much of a problem and that Instituto Natcional de la Seguridad Social would contact me for an appointment this is where it goes pear shaped, letter for appointment arrived same day as post, appointment 11.30am post arrived 1pm , however managed to arrange for next day (today)
Attended assessment with my translator, Doctor had no information did not know why I was there, initially would not let translator into assessment, eventually had to, did not understand what she was to report on. I had written a chronological history for my information. She wanted this translating into Spanish plus other documents then faxing to her. She could not understand that in UK med records kept by Drs kept asking why I had none. She did cursory med exam lasted all of 3 minuets, feel very depressed by situation, anyone got any advice?

Were any notes made by you, or someone acting on your behalf, during the medical?
Trying to make the best of what could be a bad situation, you have good grounds for an appeal, however, I think it more likely, based on your description, that the medical wil be declared not fit for purpose, and a new one will have to be arranged.
We have some other members, living abroad, who have also been through this process, but I am not sure whether they have reported their results yet, unfortunately they may not be frequent vistors to the forum.
Apart from that I am afraid there is really nothing you can do until the DWP come back to you.
Good luck

Hi EP,
I realise it might be a "shot in the dark" but have you tried one of the british expat forums such as this one. :
britishexpats.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=75
You never know, there may be some people who have similar experiences of the IB to ESA migration in Spain.
As Gordon says we do have a few overseas members, but they don't post that often.
cheers
