Why Issue ESA-50 to JC+ and DWP Central

I might have this wrong, but I think I've seen reference to people saying that in addtion to returning their form to the Standard DWP address (provided envelope), they also send the form to their local JC+.
Is there a particularly reason for doing for this? Doesn't the form do the rounds anyway on its own?

Hi M534,
Claimants are compelled to return their ESA50 Questionnaire to ATOS, not the DWP.
Some members have also sent a copy of the same to the DWP ESA Decision Maker, of the IB Reassessment Team dealing with their migration, as a matter of choice.
The reason being, to ensure that the DWP DM who makes the actual decision, has all the evidence in front of him.
Also, it has been known for ESA50's to go missing, so again this helps with this scenario.
It is entirely a matter of choice though, with regards to sending copy to the DWP DM.

How do I know where my DM is??
Hi M534,
Address it : FAO The ESA Decision Maker, IB Reassessment Team.
To the address on the ESA Migration letter that you receive at the start of the ESA WCA migration process. ("The benefit that you get is changing" letter).
Even though the ESA DM may be based at a different office he should get it O.K., as it will be forwarded on.
It may be advisable to post your ATOS ESA50, and the one to the DM by recorded delivery, again though this is a matter of choice.
cheers

Hi bro58, I was just about to post a similar question when I saw this post, I am in the prossess of filling out my esa50 it is a renwal as I was placed in the wrag last november (I am not an ib transfer I first applied for esa last year) I have collated all of my evidence in preparation to send it back with the forms to the atos office in the addressed envelope they enclosed,I was also wondering If I should send a copy to the DM, My local job centre+ is in the next town and that is where I was asked to attend for an interview prior to the pathways meetings. would that be the office that I would send my evidence copies to? or would there be a different address I should be looking for?
many thanks

Hi HM,
As you are not an IB "Migrant" I would simply address it FAO ESA Decision Maker.
It would not be advisable to send it to your local JCP+, I would address it to the Benefits Office (centre) that deals with your ESA.
This address should be on any ESA award, or benefit breakdown letter that you have received.
If in doubt phone up and check where the ESA DM is based.
cheers
