my younger sister filled in her esa 50 form in august this year she was called for medical in october she has been on icb since 1997 when her son was Murdered. she does not go anywhere and her life effectively ended then.
she received a phone call today saying she would be paid until 10 jan 2012 then she would have to sign on jsa. the point i am making is i requested was that when she filled the form in that all correspondence should be in writing as per your guidance in the esa guides. i have advised her to state this when she appeals as i feel she must do. she has other conditions brittle
bones. copd.and her mobility is limited your advice on this is welcome.

Hi G,

With respect to phonecalls from the DWP.

It would seem that the DWP had your sister's phone number.

This can be the case where a claimant has provided their phone number some years earlier, and forgotten that they have done so.

Just because the DWP ignore your requests regarding phone contact, does not mean that you have to answer their calls.

I do not answer any calls from numbers that I do not recognise, I have an answering machine and work on the premise that if it is a legitimate call, the caller will leave a message, I can then choose whether I wish to contact them.

A claimant cannot be compelled to communicate over the phone regarding their claim, and can insist that all correspondence is written.
