ESA50 sent in 8 weeks ago was created by birdyanne
Hi
We completed (with help from this site) and sent in my husbands ESA50 8 weeks ago but had not heard anything from ATOS. Finally got through to our local job centre and received a phonecall back to say his questionnaire was in the middle of the pile and had not been looked at. Does that mean it will be another 2 months before we hear. They stated everyone who commenced on ESA is to have a medical hence the long delay. Has anyone else had to wait this long?

My husband has been on the assessment phase for 8 months. He has been messed about and at one stage told he was not eligible as he had an occupational pension. It was not until we read info on this site that we realised he was. He was also told he probably jepodized his claim as he did not attend a medical. The reason being he was back at work and not claiming ESA at the time. They were notified.

What we do not understand is that we have a set time to fulfil our obligations but they can put your claim on hold and keep money that should be paying the bills and mortgage. Sorry for the rant.

The only thing I can suggest is that you try contacting your MP, they are limited as to what they can do, but expediting a claim is usually something they can assist with.

See the following

Contacting your MP

You may wish to consider complaing to the DWP, but this might be something to do once your husbands claim has been decided. See

Complaining to the DWP

Hi Anne
I had to return my ESA50 by September 15 and have just received notification of my medical which will be on 15 December - ie. 3 months later. So an eight week delay doesn't seem unusal to me.
Good luck to you and your husband.

Just to clarify, Dorset-angel is appealing a Decision, not waiting for their ESA50 to be reviewed, so they time waited is not relevant to the original posters question.

Hi my friend sents theirs back on 18th october and they are still waiting as well. This is transfer from ib to esa. Could it be because they are having so many to do that there is a back log hence the delay in things?
