ESA medical appeal

Hi all,

I was deemed fit for some sort of work after my medical. I then went to the the interview at the job centre where i was advised by the personal adviser there to appeal. I have the backing of the local Disability association. What happens now, do i still get my esa benefit. I am totally in the dark here as its the first time i have been in this situation.

I have arthritis in my hips and neck, the trouble with my neck affects my shoulders, arms and hands which often go numb.

I have a new appointment in January to see consultant about my right hip, which is worse. I had a left hip replacement in April of this year. And to make matters worse I have frozen left shoulder and trapped nerve in my back. You could say i am slowly dropping to pieces.

If anyone can give me advice, I would be very grateful.

Hi Catrina

If you have been found fit-for-work you have nothing to lose by appealing. You should also receive ESA at assessment rate until your appeal reaches its outcome when the DWP receive your GL24 form (state that you wish to be paid ESA at assessment rate on the GL24 form for clarity).

Hi Catrina and welcome, and if you have not already done so, maybe put in for DLA too, as by the sound of you, it is also a distinct possibility you qualify for that as well! Best of luck and do not allow them to get to you too much ...EddieP

I am in receipt of DLA. Thats another reson why i was told to appeal by the local job centre
