I am presently on the ESA Support group. I was recently after one year sent a medical questionnaire again which I returned two weeks ago. When will I know the the ESA has been successively reviewed. Also I am in the process of applying for DLA which I ought to have done much earlier. What are my chances of getting DLA considering that I have been in the ESA Support group for over a year now.I am a hemodialysis patient.I am diabetic and also suffer with acute depression. I have a dropped foot in the left leg due to nerve damage which aggravates my mobility problems.I also suffer with sleep apnea and various sleep problems due to the after effects of dialysis.
With regards to your ESA query please see:
How long until they make a decision?
With regards to your DLA query, please remember DLA is not paid due to diagnosis of any condition(s). It is paid if you have care and/or mobility needs arising from any conditions/disabilities.
Please see the members guides in relation to DLA accessible from the following page:
www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/help-for-claimants/dla
in particular the guides entitled 'The Best Possible Disability Living Allowance Claims For Adults On Physical Health Grounds'.
Also if you scroll down on the above linked page you will also find a DWP document entitled 'Disability Handbook'. Although this document is longer used by the DWP any more, some parts are still relevant. Para 24 gives information on dialysis.
I am sorry but it is impossible to assess ones chances of being successful in claiming any benefits. To do so would require much more information than can be safely posted on such as an internet forum. Nor is it the purpose of this forum - we can only answer generic questions on how the system works (or should work) and under no circumstances can we answer individual enquiries - Please see:
Why can't you answer a question about my specific claim

which of the two is more difficult to get ESA or DLA.
Hi
They are seperate benefits, with their own qualifying conditions. Please have a read of the B&W guides to ESA & DLA, which can be found in the Members Only orange section. Also refer to our Moderator's Pete's reply to your previous post above.
Regards
Michael
