Successful DLA Appeal today was created by miss ladysmith
Hi there
I'm pleased to say my appeal was successful and have been awarded the middle rate care, when originally had been awarded lower rate care with high rate mobility.
It wasn't a pleasant experience, the panel were lovely but i was unfortunate to have a rather nasty DWP person sit next to me who frequently was trying to catch me out with my claim, challenging my mobility from 2002 - which has been higher rate since then.. I must admit i came out worried that i might actually lose my mobility - even though it was quite obvious to all that i can barely walk - and only with a set of wheels!
But I've got my middle rate, which will be back dated to dec 4th 2009 through till dec 2014.

Apart from the DWP person element, i did feel really prepared, I'd read everything possible i could find on this site - and my only woe is that i wasn't aware of this site two years ago when i had to do my renewal and update of circumstances - as in all honesty I really should be getting the higher rate care from what i've read on here, as my have needs are 24/7 but i was so relieved that i didn't lose any benefit that I'm quite happy with what I've got.
I did have an indefinite claim initially, they have decided to change that to one that now ends in 2014 - but that is a hurdle i will have to cross when it comes around i guess... but knowing this site is here to help with the process, I'm not worried about that one bit.

Thanks for giving such great, accurate advice.

Good luck to everyone else who has an appeal coming up!
Hang on in there!!!
