Help what can i do now was created by loobiemac
I applied for DLA away back in january this year,it was refused then refused again on reconsideration. The day i got the letter i went straight to the advice shop and they sent in a form for an appeal.Fast forward to now and im wondering why on earth i havent heard anything,so phone dwp to be told im not down for an appeal, after the knock back from the reconsideration they have nothing else!! The women on the phone said if we had good reason we could appeal up to 13mths later.

Part of my claim is for severe depression and anxiety so you can only imagine how im feeling now after worrying all this time to now find out im not even in the bloomin system! Any one any ideas on where i go from here ??

Hi LM,

It may be advisable to re-contact the "Advice Shop" that sent in the appeals form for you, and inform them of the current situation.

You can submit an appeal up to 13 months after an adverse decision, but it can be difficult.

How long do I have to appeal?

See further information on appealling here :

How to submit an appeal

You will see that a GL24 form should be used to appeal, and there is a link to download the GL24 on the above link, you will see information on submitting a late appeal in the form.

You can access all our DLA Guides from this link :

DLA Guides

As it would seem that you are new to the forum it may also help if you read all relevant sections on our FAQ's here :

FAQ’s

There is also helpful information here for members new to the forum :
Welcome to Benefits and Work

Another alternative would be to make a totally fresh claim, as long as you have suffered the limitations/needs for at least 3 months before the claim, and are expected to suffer the same for at least 6 months after.
