Dla reassessment

My GP advised me yesterday to be in touch with the DLA to get the mobility part of existing claim updated to the higher level as well as applying for a blue badge. I have DLA awarded at the highest care level and without a review date ie it was for life with low rate mobility.

I was advised by the DWP that I will have to fill in a new claim and have my entire case looked at again.

Given the current climate this has me worried sick.

Any advice? Part of me wishes I had ignored the Dr and let sleeping dogs lie or is that just paranoia.

I am on IB as well and have not been reviewed and am 60.

That is true.. Disability Living Allowance is one benefit with two components care and mobility

If you want your mobility component reviewed, then you have to complete a new claim form if you want to apply for HRM. The DLA Decision Maker has the power to consider your whole claim again, but if your care needs haven't changed then it's highly probable that the DM will not consider your care needs, and only look at your current mobility needs.

However, Im not a WRO, so perhaps one of our more experienced moderators can give you more definitive advice.

I got my form today and filled it in for a review of my mobility rate - how long will I have to wait for a decision?

Just to let everyone know I got awarded the full rate mobility in addition to my higher rate care allowance and was given it indefinitely
