American definition of Autism in for change..

Not sure if I can post this here, but in the USA due to the high prevalence of diagnosing Autistic Spectrum Disorder - 1/100 children currently diagnosed, then the Medical Powers that be are looking to change the definition. This may exclude large swathes of "High functioning" ASD people including those with Aspergers Syndrome.

Obviously this will have a big impact on access to benefits, services etc and people are anxious that high functioning people will no longer be diagnosed with ASD.

Stress this is in the USA .. not UK.. but what goes round may well come here.
