Should I ask them to reconsider my application?

Recently awarded HRM and LRC. The letter states why I was only awarded LRC and some of the reasons given do not reflect the care I actually receive/need. This could be that I didn't explain it very well, or that the DM has missed something. I am in two minds whether to leave well alone and be happy that I've been awarded anything (first time I have applied) and leave the rest until it needs renewing in two years time. I am worried that they will look at the whole application again and I would be worse off. It took me three months to fill in the form (before I found this website!) but I am tempted to write to ask for a reconsideration within the 30 day timescale. I certainly wouldn't go through with a full appeal, I couldn't face it - but would this trigger off an appeal if I asked for a simple reconsideration within the 30 days?

We cannot advise whether you seek a 'reconsideration' or go direct for an appeal.

What I can say, is that if you submit an appeal, then before it's passed to the Tribunals Service to action, it will always be 'reconsidered' by a more senior Decision Maker first, so why waste time seeking 'reconsideration' ? If it fails, it's then up to you to decide to appeal or not.
