Steve posted in News secret changes to ESA.
I am severely sight impaired and I was placed in the WRAG in July 2011.
At that time i thought that from the guides on physical grounds that this was the probable outcome.
However with this new revelation by Steve on how visually impaired claiments should
have scored on discriptor 7 by ATOS HCP's.
IE: cannot read 16 point print or braille qualify for the support group.
I contacted disabiliy help line and the lady said if i provided the info and a reason for late submission i could appeal because the evidence is from their own source and include a GL24 form.
My problem is this my family is already £580 down a month (wife lost job and WTC) and we cant live on assessment phase for months waiting for a hearing.
Can i ask the DM to look at the decision again at the local office without having to go to appeal.(my DB8 and ATOS report i hope will be enough)
If they do look again and leave things as they are is the only option to then appeal.
Thanks for any responces in advance

Hi MS,
If your late appeal is allowed, using form GL24, all appeals are subject to an automatic reconsideration first, which will be carried out by a different DWP DM.
So the WRAG award could be revised to Support Group at this stage, therefore negating the need for it to be sent forward to the Appeals Tribunal Service.
There should be around a 4 week window of opportunity to have the decision changed, from when they receive your GL24, so you should make sure that you emphasise your reasons as to why you should have been placed into the SG.
The above of course, will be dependant on your late appeal being accepted.

As I understand it from your previous posts you are currently in the WRAG.
If you appeal to be placed in the Support Group, you will continue to receive your WRAG payments while doing so.
The following FAQs may be of assistance.
Qualifying for the Support Group
Is there any risk to challenging a decision?
How long do I have to appeal?
How to submit an appeal
Do I have to attend WFIs while I appeal?

Bro58 and gordon many thanks guys for swift responce the fact that wrag payments will be maintained is a weight of my mind regards proceeding;its worth a crack as the discriptor update and evidence provided by me should be enough and i dont think they will they will remove me from ESA whatever the outcome.
Many thanks.
