ESA50 Form

ESA50 Form was created by flossbenji
I have just received an ESA50 (03/11) form for my transfer from IB to ESA and have noticed some of the questions vary from what I was expecting to find.
Firstly, with moving around (walking) the form only asks if you can walk 50 metres before needing to stop; the answer options are "yes", "no" and "it varies". The form then asks the same question for a distance of 200 metres, again with the three same possible answers.
There is no question about 100 metres! Also the question of "repeatedly moving x metres within a reasonable timescale because of significant discomfort or exhaustion" appears to have vanished completely!
Has the limited capability for work assessment changed; if so I was not aware that it had. If I answer the 50 metre question with "it varies" how many points would be awarded?
I have a heart condition and one of my main problems is exhaustion/tiredness. If the regulations have changed, then these changes are not going to help me!
Any advice or help would be much appreciated!!
PS have also noticed the question on sitting and standing now only asks about 1 hour; the 30 minute question has gone!!
Thanks, Keith

As far as I can tell you are looking at the latest version of the ESA50.

The descriptors were updated in March 2011,so if your last assessment was about this time or before it, you would have used the previous version of the form.

Our ESA guides have been updated to reflect the changes so I would suggest you start there to understand what each of the descriptors and tick boxes relate to.

Hi Flossbenji

Yes, the test has changed in March last year.

Some of the questions on the ESA50 are very misleading when compared to the WCA but if you read the ESA claims guide they are fully explained with advice on how to give relevant information about your condition.

Good luck

Derek
