Jobcentre Staff and privacy of information...

Just a general question, because I don't really want to go into detail at present.

However, had a Work Focussed Interview recently at which details of my mental health conditions were discussed verbally. I later discovered that the member of Jobcentre staff whom I was talking to is closely related to someone that I vaguely know.

Now I'm concerned that I may become the subject of gossip of the 'you remember <x> - well you never guess who I saw today!' kind. Paranoia? Maybe? It's hard to determine.

Are there specific rules which forbid JC staff from discussing details of clients/customers/punters outside of the workplace? Had a google around but I can't find anything definitive.

Thanks. This is really playing on my mind now.

The following link is to the DWPs "information Charter" which explains how they manage claimant information.

Thanks. She did say that she wouldn't mention me to him, but I'm not sure if I can trust her...

I've been around - and I know how people talk about their day on a 'promise this won't go any further...' basis when they get home.
