I filled all this dreadful new format of the form in and followed your guidelines, because of personal circumstances I was sure i would not be sent for a medical but I have. Can you tell me who to write to in NI to ask why I have to go for a medical and what they expect me to do with my wife who has C.Diff hospital bug which keeps reoccuring. My total should have been far more due to my physical illness. Any ideas who to write to - the form went last wednesday, i got a letter yesterday to say I had to ring Royston House and today 2 messages on my answer phone but they can only discuss appointment times nothing more. PLEASE HELP ME I DON'T KNOW WHERE TO TURN - CAME OUT OF MY DRS SURGERY IN TEARS - (ashamed 49 year old man who worked all his life until now - lost home - feel nothing left)
Hi K&F,
I'm sorry to hear of your problems.
It appears that ATOS are also carrying out the face to face assessments in NI, as in the rest of the UK, see :
www.guardian.co.uk/government-computing-...gin-support-services
Please see ATOS contact details on their website. :

You must attend the "medical" unless you can gain something in writing confirming that you do not have to, otherwise failure to attend could result in you losing your benefit.
If you wish to complain to your M.P., you can do so here :

Benefits in Northern Ireland are managed by the Social Security Agency, the following link is for their website which should have appropriate contact information for you.

I do have to warn you that I think it unlikely that you can avoid a medical, once a Decision has been taken that one is required.
It may be possible to arrange a home medical, this is normally based on you needing it due to your conditions, but it may be possible to argue that it required due to your circumstances.
Good luck
Gordon
