question 8, on esa form getting around safely. was created by paula
Hi Sorry to ask, but i have been through the physical guides, the mental health ones, the FAQs and any other posts and i am really confused about this question. it says about getting around safely on your own, it looks at visual problems, but with mental health issues, people have problems getting around safely too, espeically crossing the road for example, due to fogginess and confusion with side effects of meds, and anxiety and panic attacks the second part of the question is so vague, can you get around a place that you have haven't been to before with out help? It asks that again in the mental health ones as well, with lower rate DLA mobility at stake, it is very vague, because looking at it a lot and i cant make head or tail of it, sorry about this, any thoughts would be appreciated, these questions are very vague. Thanks.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Questions 1-10 of the ESA50 relate to issues with physical conditions, so there has to be an underlying physical issue for a claimant to score points for this set of questions, that is why the guidance relates to problems with sight.
Questions 11-17 relate to issues connected with Mental Health, however, in this case, there does not have to be a specific mental illness disgnosed for a claimant to be able to score points for these descriptors.
So if you have problems with your sight you should answer question 8 and if your problems are related to Mental Health issues you should answer question 15.
Hope this explains it.

Hi Gordon, thanks for reply, it is just the way it is worded that is all, it reads quite diffently, also forgive me, having bad brain forg, and problems with the hands today, so for some reason don't ask me how, rubbish with technology have managed to put forward the original question twice, my apologies, i think i need a lay down now.
