dreaded phone call, ruined weekend was created by bulliemad
hi, got as lovely phone call on saturday morning informing i have failed my medical and wont be transferring to ESA, i am in a complete state of panick at the moment and have been all weekend, i have read your appeals guide, i have rang the jobcentre plus and asked for all forms regarding my decision to be sent to me, i asked her what am i supposed to do now they have stopped my money, she said ill give you the number for a crisis loan, i have printed off the form in the appeals guide to ask for all relivant documents and also the appeal form to, i have been to see my gp this morning who has gave me a sicknote, i also have the GL24 form here to fill in, i dont know wot to do, have been waiting hours for the CAB to ring me back and give me some advice, how can i appeal against their decision when i dont know wot their decision is, so how can i send the GL24 to them with my sicknote when i dont know what im appealing against, as it states you cant just say you think the decision is wrong. i need to get this sent off so i can go onto the ESA assessment rate or ill end up having no money at all to live on, please help

I am sorry to hear this and am not surprised that you are distressed .
There are several points here - firstly, you should be entitled to 'assessment rate' ESA once your appeal has been lodged. This is probably less than you have been getting on IB, but it is better than nothing.
Secondly, you can get your appeal form in with just basic details and say that you will supply more details (and evidence if possible) once your have received your 'statement of reasons'. Another decision maker will look at your case first and see whether they agree with the original decision, which will take a few weeks. The more details you can suply at this stage the better, but you have time to have a look at the statement of reasons first.

First thing i would say is calm down. Youll make yourself worse. Eady to say, im going thro it too.
You can fill in appeal form saying why you think you qualify and send further evidence. Their decision is youre fit for work.
If youre alone and have no income youre entitled to something. Write a .ist of the things you need to do and work through it.
Good luck

Hi bulliemad
Follow the advice in the B&W Appeals Guide, have a look at again and it will explain all the process for appealing, pages 7 and 8 in the 2012 appeals guide.
You can also attach additional sheet/sheets to GL24 and send in other information later.

Yes, send in the form and a covering note (with your 'fit note from your GP). Try and give them something to go on - for example, say that you do not think they have taken x,y and z into account but state that you will send more details when your have received the paperwork from them.
The decision maker does not have to contact your GP - but it does give you better grounds for appeal if they have not.
Good luck!
