how to apply to move from WRAG to SG (ESA) was created by mothernurture
Hi, i have just recieved notice that my ESA will end this month. I am still not fit for work, but will not recieve anything as my partner works and i was on Contribution based ESA. I have not been able to work for 4 years due to M.E and agoraphobia. I had three work related interviews 3 years ago and have not done any work related activity since then - 2 of those where over the phone. I didnt appeal to go in the SG at the time becuase i didnt think i fit the descriptors and was worried about appealing. Since then i have succesfully claimed DLA, using your guides and without a medical was awarded Higher rate mobility and middle rate care.
Is it now possible to ask to be considered for the SG? i cant argue that my circumstances have changed - but they havent got better either. My last assesment for ESA was last december - i didnt have a medical but they said i would not be fit to be looked at/considered for work for 18 months.
Any ideas. I dont know how we will cope without the money.
Thanks, Justy.

Playing Devils Advocate, if you are unable to show your condition has worsened since the last Decision that placed you in the WRAG, then it is very, very unlikely that you qualify for the Support Group.

Hello, I am in a similar situation and have received the ESA50 form to complete to hopefully be placed into the support group! It is all a mine field of information to try and take on board and so scary. All I can say is reading other peoples comments lets you know you are not alone. Good luck and I hope you are treated properly.

I think my reply just got lost! sorry if ive replied twice.

Thanks Gordon for the reply - i do see your point BUT. When i originally applied for ESA i did it on my own and didnt know anyone with M.E who had succesfully got into the SG. I didnt know i could appeal to be placed in SG. I just figured that as i had been found unfit for work, and wasnt actually being required to attend WRA (as not well enough to) then it wouldnt matter. Obviously this was all before the law was changed. Now i know others with Moderate/Severe M.E are getting into the SG under exceptional circumstances and wish i HAD appealed before.
I take it there is nothing i can do then? Back to not being able to pay the bills.

There is no reason why you cannot request a supersession (re-assessment) on your current claim if you believe you now meet one or more of the criteria for the Support Group, but you will need evidence to support this, especially if you are looking at the Exceptional Circumstances rule, where you will not only need new evidence, but up to date evidence, that you meet this criteria.

Do i need to do this before my ESA runs out (30th April)
Once again thanks for your help, Justy.
