Worrying about losing esa and dla was created by Lady_in_bed
I'm really worrying about my esa claim because it has only just dawned on me what a serious siuation this could put me in :( I only sent my esa50 off just over a week ago and I'm worrying constantly. I havent had a call about my
assessment yet.

The thing is if I fail esa it could very likely mean I could lose my dla as well because they are bound to question why I failed esa so I could lose both. I cannot claim job seekers because for one I know I can't work and it would be false to say I could and besides that I couldnt even get to the job centre once let alone every 2 weeks.

I don't know what to do because I don't have a husband or a partner and no other income at all so how could I live. I couldnt pay for the help I need and I would lose my house, I couldnt pay for gas, elec or absolutely anything including food. I never realised just how bad it could become.I never thought I could end up with nothing. It seems crazy to think that even people on job seekers would get something yet because I couldnt work I'd get nothing, its like being turfed out on the streets.

I know it could happen even though I know I fit a few of the descriptors because its happening to others
already, they give 0 points. I know I could appeal but theres no guarantee I would pass an appeal either and also they are slow to send the results out to use to put an appeal in so it limits the time to appeal. Also I couldnt physically attend a tribuneral either if it came to that. I never thought it would get this bad

Whilst a failed ESA claim can result in your DLA claim being re-assessed, the fact is that this actually happens quite rarely, and less so since the ESA descriptors were revised in 2011, increasing the gap between the two benefits.

Also, you should not assume that your ESA claim will be unsucessful, unfortunately, it is the nature of a forum like this and others on the internet, that you will read far more about failed claims than successsful ones.

Whilst it may appear differently, the majority of ESA claims are dealt with fairly and correctly.
