loss of tied-cottage and housing benefit query

hello all,

a friends parents are having to give up their job due to age and failing health which will cause them to lose their tied cottage

they own an overseas property that they have been trying to sell for over 2 years now but to no avail

are they going to be disallowed housing benefit or will they have entitlement as they have tried to sell their overseas property?

they are both over 60 with the wife in receipt of OAP but hubby is only 61.

Hi,

Sorry but we cannot answer queries in relation to housing benefit as it is beyond the forum remit. In particular so, where the situation is as complex as the case you ask about sounds.

Your friends parents will need to seek face to face advice from a welfare rights aqency/CAB etc.
