Years since diagnostic proof was created by carruthers
Ten years ago I had to fight to get my DLA and managed in large measure because I found a consultant sympathetic to ME, who listened and then pronounced my case a classic pattern. His letter contained the phrase,

"There is no doubt about this diagnosis."

I saw him (privately) a couple of times more, but he had little new to offer. The he retired and since then I have not troubled the medical profession with my ME, having developed other problems which keep them busy enough.

Still the extent of my fatigue and mobility problems have their root in the ME, and it will appear on my ESA form. However, that consultant's letter remains the last specialist documentation, and I am uncertain as to whether I could get another consultant to replicate that judgement as clearly. Getting an ME doctor who won't inflict CBT and GET on you can be problematic. So, I just keep an eye on the medical press and keep doing whatever has worked so far.

So the question is - is the DWP likely to accept that consultant's letter, which showed that in 2002 I'd had ME for 30 years? Common sense would indicate that little is likely to have changed in then 10 years since then - especially as I have developed MS in the interim. My GP would also have noticed if my health had suddenly improved.

Do you see anyone who would confirm that, at best, your condition is unchanged since 2002?

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems
