ESA and permanent health insurance was created by Ian Furnass
I have been off work for almost eight years after an accident to my lower back. After having x rays and a scan several of the discs in this area were shown badly worn after many years of hard work causing pain and immobility. My Company have put me in the hands of their insurers who found me not capable of work so they pay me something weekly until retirement. I am still under contract with my company and will remain so until retirement.I can see me being placed in the work related catagory but cannot work or train for anyone except my Company. How will this affect me if i cant get into the support group
Thanks
Ian

IF

This appears to be your first post, so you may want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is on the site.

Welcome to Benefits and Work

I notice that your forum name may be your real name, have a look at the following

My full name is showing, how can I stop it?

With regard your PHI payments, I woud recommend, if you have not done so already, that you get face to face advice, as these payments can effect your ESA payments, see

Where to get advice?

If you are receiving contribution based ESA, which I would assume you are then the time you can do so while in the WRAG is limited to one year, see

12 Month Limit for ESA(CB)

After this time you may be eligible for income related ESA, subject to a means test.

Members of the WRAG have to attend Work Focussed Interview and may be forwarded to the the Work Programme, see

Work Focussed Interviews

Work Programme

If you have further questions, please come back to the forum.

Thanks for the quick reply. I am getting incapacity benefit at the moment so does this mean when it changes to ESA it will stop after 12 months. I will not pass a means test
Thanks

Only if you are placed in the WRAG, if you are placed in the Support Group there is no limit, have a look at the link I included in my previous post for more details.

Hi Ian
I have just been put in the same position by being transferred to WARG ESA even though my insurers deem me unfit for work. I think it is a ploy to stop us claiming in a years time when we will be ineligible from getting any benefit because of PHI how have you got on with this? What did the jobcentre say when you told them you are still technically employed etc?
