Dla medical was created by stickman1992
Hi all. Had a letter that I have to have a medical as my gp didnt put enough information on his report. Will I get a letter telling me of the medical date and time. How different is this from an ESA medical ? How long does it normally take for atos to arrange this. Has anybody had experiences of good medicals ? Have read all the negative reports and there's not many people with good experiences of atos medicals. Should this be in my home and I don't answer the phone because of mobility problems so would this go against me of they tried to phone to arrange a medical

DLA medicals are usually held in the home and do not have the same structure as an ESA medical although there is still a standard set of questions.

They are usually arranged at short notice, although you are still entitled to 7 days notice, typically, the ATOS doctor will contact you to arrange the date by phone, but failing this, they should write to you.

See the following FAQ for more details and links to additional information.

I hope you don't have to wait much longer. From what I can gather you've waited some six months as it is?

Thanks karlo. Yes its been six long months. To be honest with the mental stress that the wait gives I am at the tipping point where I think is it worth all the stress that makes me worse and the possible intrusion into my home by atos and from what I have read more often than not they don't even listen to you anyway and write what they like. If the medical ends up being a farce and it affects my Dla will this in turn affect my ESA status?

Cheers

It is unlikely but not impossible that a failed DLA medical can effect your ESA claim, I know of only one occassion where this has happened, in nearly two years of being a Moderator.

I've been waiting almost 3 months now to hear back reference Right Payment Programme, Stickman. I hear what you're saying about the stress. Only contact I've had with them is last Friday when I phoned to see if they had received the form.

Hope all goes well
