entitled to ESA without allowance . was created by acecoffee
i receive a letter telling me i am not entitled to ESA both IR and Contribution based as i have a higher basic income and not enough NI .

but in the next day , i recieved another letter for Severe disability premium and my medical questionnaire.

when i called for enquiry ,they told me that i m am entitled to ESA but not entitled to the allowance .i will recieve the preimium in cash but not ESA IR and contribution in cash ,

can people be entitled to ESA without reciving the money ? how does ESA system work with servere disabiity yet with income ? i would be grateful if anyone can help me out regarding this .

I am afraid this area of benefits can be very confusing and I doubt the DWP are making it easier to understand.

Whilst it is possible to be eligible for ESA but not entitled to payment, claimants who's ESA(CB) has been time limited are in this position, this is not consistent with the details in your post, so I can only recommend that you get face to face advice from a trained benefit advisor, see

Hello there, your post was a little confusing. Are you in WRAG or Support group for ESA. If you are in the support group but have not paid enough national insurance contributions for CB based ESA then you won't receive the payment for ESA, but you could be entitled to the Severe disability premium. If you are in the WRAG group this is limited to 365 days and if you have already received this you will then only recieve NI credits. By the sounds of things you are not eligible for IR ESA as you have other forms of income or savings which take you above the threshold.

I'll admit AC's post is a little confusing, but I need to correct some of your post.

A claimant cannot be in the Support Group or WRAG unless they have first met either the Contribution requirements for ESA(CB) or the means test for ESA(IR).
