Hi I'm back ! I am now in receipt of a small NHS pension which has been deducted from my ESA (IR) £ for £ as you said previously. I now have a request to show receipts of my expenditure on the lump sum I received . Do I need to show receipts for the full amount ? or can I show receipts that keep me under the £6000 limit. I took the majority of the lump sum out in cash and paid with cash. I still have some money at home which need to pay for a new cooker and the heating system is leaking water somewhere that will also need payment. These are in progress and no receipt currently available. Can you pls. let me know what is expected of me? kind regards and thks martha
The DWP should only be interested in any capital you have above £6000, although they often use a figure of £5500 to account for your benefit payments, however, they are entitled to ask for additional proof if they believe is necessary.
To be clear, any cash that you have is counted as an assest and will need to be accounted for.
