A friend of ours was placed in the WRAG. He wasn't prepared to appeal as he was scared he would be knocked off.
They sent him for an interview at the local JC. He went in a taxi because of his health conditions and how early the appointment was. When he got their they told him he appointment was cancelled as his interviewer was sick.
They tried to say they had rung to tell him but he had no missed call or answering machine message. He asked for the taxi money to be refunded for the wasted journey and was refused saying they don't pay for taxi's in any situation.
They wouldn't reimburse even under a wasted fare as they said that was what is DLA was for: Even though they should have rung him to tell him the woman was on the sick.
He wanted me to warn others of this ruling so it didn't happen to anyone else.
He also said that when his appointment was rescheduled he wasn't coming in and wanted a telephone interview as he had wasted his time effort and problems with getting up that early re his health to come down their. They duly noted that, though whether or not it will happen is another matter.
