Local Service Visit was created by Mesozoic
I received a letter yesterday from the Pension Service saying that "The Pension Service and the Disability and Carers Service work together with other organisations to provide a combined service for our customers."
It informs me that someone is coming to visit me at home on 19th July, the reason being to discuss the recent changes to the benefits I receive (I get contribution-based ESA in the WRAG group). I know this is coming to an end in January as the DWP wrote telling me so. So what is behind all this visiting? Is this yet another new thing the powers that be have dreamt up?

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

The DWP are trying to become more "customer friendly", so this may just be a visit to make sure you are getting the right level of benefit, that said, if you can have a companion with you it might be best to do so.

Hi, I had a visit from them but it was to tell me that my Incapacity Benefit had been overpaid for several years, they visited not realising they had already written to me. The woman that came was very kind but was very surprised that I already knew.

An update to the above - the lady who was to visit on 19th telephoned this morning. She was going to deliver a letter from the DWP telling me that they had overpaid me and wanted the money back. I asked if she could post the letter to me rather than visit as I'd had letters like that before through the post. I can't understand why the DWP would pay someone for their time to do this when they could just stick a stamp on! If my head wasn't already done in, they would do it!!!
