manual wheelchair assesment was created by Fizgog1
Can anyone tell me how you go about getting a manual wheelchair assesment, just wondering if it's a good idea as supporting evidence to send with ESA50?

If your GP feels you need a manual wheelchair on the NHS, they they can refer you to a Disablement Assessment Centre. These are usually at your local NHS hospital, or at a nearby hospital which your NHS Trust has arrangements with.

Sorry, I didn't explain myself properly. I meant due to manual dexterity problems it would be impossible to use a manual wheelchair. So written evidence really to back that up.

Hi Fg1,
Your G.P. or other treating HCP may be able to provide you with such supporting evidence.

The same advice applies if you need an electric powered wheelchair for indoors and/or outdoors.
However, you should be aware that as for many NHS services, there is usually a long waiting list.
I have MS, and severe respiratory disease but had to wait well over a year for an electric powered indoor chair, and over 3 years for a chair suitable for both indoors and outdoor use.
Luckily, my local MS Society loaned me one until I received my NHS indoor/outdoor chair.
