Won appeal, what happens next?

Hi guys.

Some run of the mill questions, The answers to which I've tried to find myself, honestly.

As I said, I won my appeal, thanks to the help on here, went from 6-15 points, without providing any evidence (buried my head in the sand, too scared to deal with it, suffering with from that wonderful combination of anxiety and depression)Anyway,my questions.

I called the DWP, they told me they have received notice of me winning my appeal and that I may have to wait 8 weeks before I receive and money owed, ( I could call them again, but I hate phones, 7 years of working in a call centre, which also explains the anxiety and depression) So what I'd like know (finally the questions)

1.)How long will I have to wait before I start the WRAG? I'm keen to start before I get another questionnaire.

2.)Will they write to me to let me know how much and when they'll pay me?

I think that's it, sorry if they're "how longs a piece string?" questions.

It is a 'how long is a piece of string' question but I would guess the 8 weeks would be the best guide (if they don't know then who does?). Of course, there is no harm in phoning them occasionally to get an update if you can bring yourself to do so. You could even make a written complaint to the DWP if you feel it's taking too long - 8 weeks is a ridiculously long time given that they could stop your benefit in a day if you lost the appeal!

They should confirm in writing how much the backpayment is, with a breakdown of the amounts.

Hi M,

Well done on winning you appeal.

The DWP do seem to be taking upto 8 weeks, and even longer in some locations to pay any backpay owed after a successful appeal.

You should receive a written ESA WRAG award notification letter.

Don't forget the WRAG award will be backdated to the time of the "fit for work" decision that you successfully appealed.

Any backpay owed will be payed from this date also.

It is not uncommon for successful appellants to receive a new ESA50 (Re-assessment) within weeks or a few months of their appeal decision.

As you have been placed into the WRAG of ESA, if it is Contribution Based, this will be of interest also :

I wouldn't be surprised if I get another ESA50 before they acknowledge my successful appeal!

I'm dreading another medical,they are such a lottery, including my recent appeal I've been awarded 18 points, 0,9,6 and my latest 15, which is why I'd rather try and make use of the WRAG before I go through it all again.

I'll post when I receive acknowledgement and back pay, just to give other people an idea, at the moment, other than the phone call I made, I've heard noting and it's been a month.

Some appeal tribunals are making recommendations that the claimant should not be reassessed for x time. However, we have yet to see whether DWP take any notice of this as they are not obliged to do so.

5 weeks and still haven't heard anything, made two phone calls ( which i hate ) and got two different answers.

Got a brown envelope that i was actually excited to open on the weekend, only to open it and discover it was reminder that my latest sick note is due to run out, so I'm guessing a third call?

One other question, which I'm sure gets answered a lot and i think bro85 answered, but just to clarify.

Appeal won 17/8/12

So is backdated money from 17/4 or is is the 14th week? I've read so many different things on the net, i just want to clarify.

Please don't think I'm doubting anyone, i just want to be sure as I'm starting to make the mistake of spending the money in my head.
