ESA WRAG and the WORK PROGRAMME

Could anyone out there help me with this?
I read somewhere online that anyone on ESA WRAG with a prognosis of more than 12 months does not get a mandatory referral to the Work Programme. If this is right, does anyone have a link to confirmation of this?
My question is, if someone on ESA WRAG is referred to the Work Programme with a 6 month prognosis, is then reassessed by Atos and given a further 12 month prognosis, do they have any options to opt out of the Work Programme, particularly if they are a documented carer (20-35 hrs weekly) and also only 2.5 years from state pension age?
Hope someone out there can help with this.

Hi A,
If you are in receipt of Carers Allowance or The Carer Premium for giving care to someone else then you are exempt from WFI's & WRA.
See this also on this link :
Work Focussed Interviews
Upper Age Limit
You cannot be asked to attend a WFI if you have reached or passed the upper age limit.
•For a woman this is their State Retirement Age.
•For a man this is the State Retirement Age of a woman born on the same day.
To work it out, if you are Male go to the State Pension Age calculator, here : pensions-service.direct.gov.uk/en/state-...-calculator/home.asp
Enter your DOB, but put your gender as Female.

The problem is, finding a way to escape from the Work Programme, or, failing that, to have a good case to challenge sanction threats if mandated to provide free labour or participate in pointless activities to tick boxes of Work Programme Providers.

Unfortunately, not in receipt of Carers' Allowance or Premium, but receiving National Insurance credits acknowledging being a carer for 20-35 hours weekly (2010 became possible to do this if caring for someone for 20-35 hrs weekly or for someone who wouldn't claim DLA but would otherwise be eligible). The 'cared for' person has a 'serious and enduring' mental health diagnosis.

Hi A,
Have you checked the extra information that I edited in to my original post, regarding the Upper Age Limit?
